When I reached womanhood in the '70s the message I got was that I had to have sex to be modern, liberated, free. I had a lot of sex, but mostly I felt used and devalued by those encounters. Yet the opposite message of purity also devalues women, turning them into prized objects passed from father to husband. I like your term, "sex agent," and the idea of women switching the focus from pleasing others to pleasing ourselves. That confirms that there's no "right" or "normal" amount of sex. Each man and woman gets to choose their own right amount--the amount that pleases and serves. Thanks for another insightful piece. I'm always on the lookout for your work.
