What is it about cars that brings that out in men? IDK. And I find it uncomfortable to get into conflicts, but I still want to resist it. I think there are a thousand ways sexism impacts our lives that we don't even notice, it's so ubiquitous, like that old line where someone asks a fish "how's the water?" and he answers, "What's water?" It surrounds us on all sides and we don't even know it's there.
Meanwhile, this morning, I read in the news that the Taliban is forbidding women to go to bathhouses in parts of Afghanistan. Some have no other way to bathe. :( Plus, Islam requires bathing in many circumstances, such as after sex or menstruation., the story said. Denying the full humanity of women seems to be the only point of the prohibition. :(
At the same time, it seems sweet that your husband wants to help you across the street. I'm sure his intentions are sweet and loving. The insult is invisible. But I wonder how he would feel if you tried to help him do something he was perfectly capable of doing himself? Probably not fantastic. I don't want to be rude or ungrateful. But I also don't want to be treated like a child.
