These types of mothers are harming all of society by coddling boys--who then never grow up, become emotionally intelligent, or take responsibility for the harms they cause--while devaluing girls, who have it hard enough and are in fact the ones holding the whole world together. And the fact that they are reinforcing the patriarchy and all it implies--rape culture, war, inequality of all varieties--for "fame" and money is truly despicable.

I grew up in an all girl family. Thank god there was no brother, or he would have been favored. As it was, I felt fully valued and loved and grew up with good self esteem. As a mother, I tend to favor my daughter. But I try to treat my children equally as best I can.
