Thanks for another great story, Mona. What you say is true--we have a long ways left to go before we can realize the American dream of equality for all. Racism, sexism, homophobia--all these blights must be cured before we will have a better world. Species-ism, too! We need to protect plants, animals, and Mother Earth also. Human beings aren't the only ones living here. And honestly, I have to wonder why equality is even called an "American" value. I know it's in the historic vision for the country. But other countries around the world are doing a much better job of providing equal rights to women and non-white people. Even Mexico, with its tradition of machismo, just elected a woman president and has a legislature that is 50% women. The U.S. needs to catch up.
