I've read about Chapelle's leaving his old series in the middle of his contract and decamping to Africa for some weeks or months, and it sounded like he had a nervous breakdown. I'm still unclear what actually happened. If he signed a bad contract, that sucks. But it's an old story.

I'm unsure what the "bad things" that happened to him were. Didn't he write his own jokes? No one was forcing him to do racist or demoralizing material--right? I think we're watching Dave wrestle with some demons and philosophies live on stage. To think Netflix is a "good" corp. and Comedy Central is a bad one is naive. They're all making a buck however they can. In Netflix's case, that means appeasing a star. As to the trans jokes, they suck and should be dropped.
