I'm surprised by this. I thought women were more likely to commit suicide than men. I also had no idea that suicide was so prevalent.

Thank you for a really interesting and thought-provoking piece. I agree that people who murder others are also mentally ill. It seems to me that saying otherwise is part of a perverse patriarchal system which glorifies violence as "masculine." Changing our definition of masculine to recognize honesty, integrity, loyalty and strength but not violence would probably help.
