I wonder what it is or was about New Zealand that made it so different--so much more humane. I recently read that it is one of the top counries in the world in terms of women's rights. I wish they could export some of their magic to Australia and the U.S., along with many other countries where brutal patriarchies oppress and destroy both human beings and Mother Nature, too.
