I hate war and think most of it is not waged for worthy goals. I counseled my boys to never join the military and would be glad if the U.S. armed forces were greatly reduced. But at the same time, I feel that people who are willing to give their lives for their country are honorable. I wonder what would be a good comment to make, other than "thank you for your service," that would express all that?
