I completely agree, Marlene. I remember when the governor who is proposing CARE Court in California was mayor of SF and implemented CARE not CASH, which would take homeless people's disability money and use it to pay for low-cost housing. Not all of it, if I remember correctly. I thought it was a great idea to help get homeless people off the street, but others objected it was a violation of their rights--they should be able to spend their money how they please. (On liquor and drugs?) I say if the government is giving you money, they can have a say in how you spend it. Sounds exactly like what you're describing in Australia. Sheesh. Well, at least you don't have guns, right? The Aussies did that right!
