I agree, and not only out of compassion, but also self interest, because we are all connected, even if the connections aren't immediately clear. When fascism rises in one country, it makes it more possible to rise in another. Or as MLK said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." It's right and good to care about each other. And in doing so, we care about ourselves.
